This was listed in "FAIR" condition. I'd say somewhat better than fair but I'm not too picky, I like the fact that it's been played

The case weighs about 50lbs, the strings are older than me. Action is a tad high but not insurmountable.

I think it likes me!!

Why, Did Wood get it right off?
I couldn't have named it from those pics except to rule out the 3 you already have.
You mentioned nut needing work:
It looks like the slot for the octave A has been widened to accept a wound string...which I can't find in any standard gauge mix for 12-ers.
You plan on filling the slot or replacing the nut?
I'm guessing you might get a slight bit of buzz there from being too wide?
Other than that casual observation, congrats!
I'm thinking an F-2 or 312 might be my ideal 12-er, being based on my beloved F40 outline.
Maybe someday....

ahhh.... I think I know how you did it, now.
'Hog F-body with chesterfield.
'Hog rules out 312, 412 and 512, and.....
don't think the 112's got chesterfields....
nice work if correct!

i saw the hog sides, figure it was a 212 or 112, and i agree, not sure re chesterfield, took a gamble on the 2 over the 1. and the body did not look XL. but could be camera angle.

Hi

My F512 & F212CSB have always had wound octave A - that´s how they came from Guild.

And yes it is an F-212.

Always wondered why they did not put dots on the fret board??

Thanks all.

Price was ridiculously low so I took another gamble. But man you'd think they'd put on some new strings on this.

It's a pooch but I like dogs. Sounded pretty nice in spite of the rusty cruddy dirty strings. After taxes tonight I'll have all weekend to clean it up.

Funny, I have much less angst keeping this than my 3 high end NH Guilds. Guess I just like old cars, old bourbon, a certain 56 year old woman and a guitar I don't have to worry about.

But at least for now I have an equal number of Westerly and NH.

BeeCee: "Really honey, I needed one more to even out the collection"

RCee: "Yeah ""honey"" how about 1 and 1"?

Well done and HNGD! I pulled out my manogany jumbo NH F212XL, plugged her in, and cranked her up in your honor for picking up that poor old Westerly and cleaning her up! I bet she sings!

Hi

My F512 & F212CSB have always had wound octave A - that´s how they came from Guild.

Well I can tell ya that as of 1996 at least, they didn't.
The only 12-string set they offered at the time was the..010-.047, equivalent to D'Addario EJ-38.
But yes somewhere in my mind I was visualizing wound octave "A", too.
I think from playing my buddy's '87 JF30-12?
He uses silk'n'steels currently but I don't know what brand.
Huh, just realized that the '87 price list only shows one type of 12-string set, B-1200 silk'n'steel, but no gauges.

All this by way of helping Beecee get a handle on what to string it up with.
Didn't want to seem t be hijacking the thread or anything.

Congrats Beecee! Nothing like a Hog F bodied Guild 12 string. The perfect compliment to your newly acquired F412 and F512 models. Play it in Good Health my Friend!

I use a wound octave A, too. Don't remember what came on my F-212, it's been 50 years after all. However, I don't remember what came on the 512, either, and that's a lot less time.
There aren't many sets that come that way, though.
Brad
