That Jack Nicholson got together with Monkees producers Rafelson and Schneider to write a script for a movie starring our boys.
Why is HEAD important?

"Among the few projects of the late Katherine Walsh (Bettina) was a role as Lulu in the 1967 American International release The Trip, written by Jack Nicholson (future cowriter/coproducer of the movie HEAD) and starring Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper (who cameoed in HEAD); all 3 would later star in the Monkee-financed film Easy Rider (Columbia, 1969)."

And Frank Zappa's in it:

As well as the second-to-the-last episode of the Monkees:

(Sorry, gotta post a link, only 1 vid allowed per post.)

More cool street creds for the band that never got no respeck from "real" hippies.

Mitch Mitchell asking Pete if he could fill in on Saturday night's gig as he's got a hot one waiting in the wings.

When I was a kid I thought Mickey Dolenz was the coolest guy ever. "The Monkees" were on TV on Saturday afternoons after "American Bandstand" and before "Get Smart."

Peter giving Jimi tips on how to pick up girls on a sea cruise:

Peter always did get the hottest chicks:

What happened when Jimi finally got tired of Pete getting all the girls:

Which opened up the door for George Harrison to ask for advice:

Despite the photographic evidence we have no confirmation that that was actually Mickey's hashish.
Besides it would have been bad for his voice.
He was my favorite too, for his vocals.

My blood was boiling watching that episode!

And just to come back on topic (sorry guys); Teri Garr was also in HEAD:

Interesting little tid bit from another great band of that era...Paul Revere and the Raiders also recorded "I'm not your stepping stone". Not sure who was first but the Monkee's made it famous. PRatR also recorded Louie, Louie within 48 hours after the Kingsman. I loved when PRatR were the frontman for the '69/'70 GTO "The Judge". Knew a kid in HS whose parents bought him one!

Sorry for the vere...
