Is there a Guild with model number fo25A11 or F025A11.
Seller listed GF250260 as serial number. Emails keep getting rejected. Pictures look like Mahogany back and sides and been looking for D40 but no luck yet. Maybe seller will realize no one can get in touch.
If you can clearify this mystery Guild for it, I would appreciate it.

The SN would make it a GF25 from '87. The odd model number is likely a shop floor model code that mistakenly was put on the label...

It's an internal model designation for GF25s from the Westerly factory, and for some reason, a lot of these internal codes made it on to a fair number of the "GF" series guitars of the late '80s, and perhaps others as well. My old GF30 (now living in Texas with RussD) had a similar code on the label on the "model" line.

Miss that guitar and its punchy sound sometimes.

Thank Dave and Sandy and, in your opinion, is this guitar worthy of being compared to D40?

Hard to compare to a dread. I loved my GF30 (maple), and would have kept it if it had a wider nut. Owned a GF25 (mahogany) that I didn't like as much. The GF25 and 30 both had arched laminated backs and solid sides.

Stuball,

As an owner of a GF25 like the one for sale referenced in your post and also of two
NH F30 Standards, considering the asking price of that particular GF25 - and
it does look to be in great shape in the pics - you might consider an NH
F30 STD as well, there's one currently for sale, discussed on LTG here.

IMO the NH F30 blows away the GF25 in every way - not that the GF doesn't have
it's charms - it does - but the NH F30 is just light years better - if you like a 1 3/4" nut and
rosewood back & sides vs 'hog.
IME, YMMV, etc.

the arch back mahogany GF-25 is closer to the arch back mahogany D-25 really, than anything else (both are also long scale).

D-40 and F-30 are pretty different, at least to me.

Danny Hutchens of Bloodkin has owned and played a GF-25 Black since new in 1987 until this day. he has probably written 1,000 songs on it and played it about 50,000+ hours. Danny is a great example of the main factor being the player, not the instrument ...and each of us has different preferences for several reasons.

anyway, i once played a GF-25. wasnt for me, personally

Something tells me to wait and play a D40--the "little fellow" on my shoulder tells me that's the mahogany Guild I really want.

All the "GF" 's were actually a 16" lower bout jumbo bodies and were a completely different animal from an F30.
(Mav your post just seemed like the best one to "reply" too, since it seems at least a few folks assumed that the GF30 is similar to an F30.)
