Anything else anyone needs to see?

Btw, even with the strings that took my fingerprints off it really sounds like I had hoped.

I took a GC red pick they keep at the counter and played for a bit, very nice and really sweet finger picking.

Sitting here next to my desk.

it does say Cherry on the label.

I like it unless someone thinks there is a fatal flaw.

I am going to try to get to Robert Macblane tomorrow for him to do a once over

In this photo that you initially posted, it was the geometry of the sides (where they meet the neck heel) that made me wonder if the neck block had moved. The sides look as though they might have pulled down toward the soundhole a bit.

I'm curious to hear whether your repair person thinks that could also account for the cracking you now see around the heel. If so, I would have expected to see more-dramatic cracking in the top, at the soundhole.

And I hope it works out for you! Good to hear that you enjoy the tone.

I typically do prefer light gauge (.12-.53) though am tinkering with mediums this month. most likely go back to lights.
the brands i use are:

D'Addario PB 12s aka EJ16
D'Addario EJ 11s (80/20 bronze lights)
John Pearse 600L aka PB lights
Martin cheap strings, lights, they sound surprisingly good on the Br but go dead real fast :)

I think the JPs sound best overall but D'As last longer and really I dont have a dog in fight, both great light gauge PB strings. And I do prefer phosphor bronze on Br, i think they really bring out the gritty nature of all hog dread. 80/20s are really bright and that can be nice too.

but let me know if you find a different string you like on yours, i am always looking to try different strings as i have funds for SAS, just not GAS...

SAS=string acquisition syndrome.

really looks in good sound shape, all that pealing is normal for such an old Guild dread. and that sound hole crack is not an issue at all.
those are definitely medium gauge strings :) "cables"

lights do drive the top well on this Guild dread i have found, and i forget why that is possible vs "needing" mediums to drive the top. Al knows and keeps reminding me and i keep forgetting...

also, that action looks fantastic. Again, hearty congrats. You got one of the rare Guild all hog dreads. "Rare" cause they only built them for like 4 years.

I only use 11s on these guitars. they feel and sound amazing. 12s is just too much tension and too high action on these, for me. Westerly Wood you must be the incredible hulk switching from 12s to 13s!

the guitar is a beauty btw! congrats and enjoy!
