Been looking for Mahogany D35 or D40 and was told and older fellow (91) living in an Assisted Living facility played an old Guild from time to time. So, I went to visit him and he was played an old D35 which was in very rough shape. After he finished, I got to look it over very quickly. I remember four things:
1. The first 3 numbers of SN were 128,xxx. It was 128 thousand and something.
2. I saw guild stamped on inside brace but no date.
3. The bridge was lifting
4. The neck was worn, badly.
I will get a better look on my next visit.
Any idea of date? He thought it was around a 1957 but not sure it is that old.

128XXX dates to 1975. No D-35s in 1957. Use a mirror to look on the thin brace inside next to the sound hole. Guild stamped dates there from at least the early 70s into the early 80s. A date there would be when the top assembly was completed, not the completion date.

Thank you and will look at underside of top. And if can get it to good lighting, I think I can read the tag which would help.

Took a mirror and underneath reverse side of sound hole is Nov 1975. After a closer look, it is in better condition than first appeared. Cosmedically, not good but it sounds great. Its 91 year old owner plays and sings hours each day. An amazing couple.
