I was surfing the net and came across these 2 pictures of Guild Truss rod covers.

I've seen this one before -

Anyone know what years these (red arrow) were used?

Then I saw this pic:

This shape (blue arrow) is very familiar but has the same inside crest outline as the other
What years were these used?

Thanks for any help.

I think TRC with the red arrow was mid- to late-60s into very early 70s... my '71 D-44 had that one. Its metal... By '72, my D-35 had the standard plastic TRC that matched the headstock shape.

Hello F30,

Those were made of metal and used from the early '60s till the early '70s. It ended with the introduction of the molded plastic ones.

Those are made of plastic. They are the same size as the molded plastic ones and were introduced during the second half of the '90s.

Keep in mind that the metal and plastic ones are not interchangeable!

Sincerely,

there is also the super old truss rod cover, which the Newark Street series has brought back!

I once had that older TRC on a 1972 Guild bass, randomly. had no idea what it was, until long after I sold the bass (this was prior to Newark street Guilds existing) .

Well if anyone needs a Metal one, and is not bothered by "BILL" scratched into it and wants to pay up you can always bid on this one

I think that I'll place a bid on that vintage, engraved metal TRC. And then I'll start looking around for a guitar to put it on! I'll be ahead in the game with my name! :eek:nthego:

Well that "blue arrow" version sure as heck ain't seen anywhere in the '96 catalog of the spring '97 Guild Gallery.
Should you have them, have a look in the Summer '98 version page 12 or the July-December 1999 version on page 19 where the F-30 carries it.

Yes, also the Winter/Spring '99 Gallery on page 15 (Sunburst F-30), and I've seen a few on instruments for sale from that era.

It's really a nice looking one, imho.
