    NGD: Blue X3000

Yes, it's finally here, and it may be one of the most beautiful instruments I've ever laid hands on.

It is also, sadly, quite broken:

When I first pulled it out of the case I didn't even notice it. The guitar is so freaking beautiful that I didn't know anything was wrong until I went to play it, and that's when I felt the crack. Now, I've seen stress fractures in the finish at the nut before, but you can see the wood here. The crack is so severe that with the strings slacked I can widen it by gently pulling on the headstock. It's bad. It's heartbreakingly bad. There was not a mark on the box and the case and rest of the guitar look like they're brand new.

    I are sad.

"Alternatively, you could just go the ultra-relic route with it. Basically go for a look that says the amp was on fire and they put it out using belt sanders."

Damn GAD, I am so sorry to hear that it is broken. Have you decided if you are going to try and get it fixed or send it back? That looks like the fretboard is really separating from the neck. That is an intensive repair to do it right and rematch the finish. So sorry to hear this.

Very sorry Gary, looks like it's going back.

When it comes to beautiful guitars, I had the honor of getting to know Mike Shishkov during the course of the four LMG tours. Mike worked in the finishing department mostly, and has started making his own electrics since the plant closed. Some of them are just a sight to behold!

That sucks. Either a return or a partial refund seems in order. Could it have happened during shipping?

Highly likely that it was a typical neck-break during shipping or for the week it was in Customs.

That is heartbreaking! Had a similar thing happen on a SF 5. However your guitar was one-of-a-kind. Truly sorry to see the damage to that guitar. I hate shipping guitars in the winter. Seems like most damage occurs in that season. I try to avoid any guitar shipping in the Christmas season.
