Of course when I'm doing Blues in "A" I usually start with the Barre E7 position on the fifth fret. For the "D7" I play a full C7 on the third fret and for the "E7" I slide that C7 up to the fifth fret. Nice easy way to do the blues using only two different chord positions.

Something important to know about chords is the fingering will depend on the chord prior and the next chord. It's good to know several fingerings and positions for each for this reason. I play the cowboy chord G position like 4 or 5 different ways depending what's going on before and after.

I have about a dozen A chords. For a straight cowboy A:

First string: open
Second string: ring finger
Third string: forefinger
Fourth string: middle finger
Fifth string: open
Sixth string (optional): open

It feels strange at first, but by arranging your fingers similarly to making a D7, you can hit the fourth string close to the fret - a must.
