Vintage flat-back D25 I've been looking at... guitar looks good overall but I'm concerned
about the fretboard divots between the first 3 frets.
Very little wear on the rest of the guitar from what I can see.
I've never played a guitar with this condition.
How or do these divots affect playability, and are they it fixable or would a
a new fretboard be necessary?

I had them on my SFIII and didn't notice them too much. When I had the old girl refretted, the fingerboard sanding took care of it.

Here's my Yamaha FG110 fingerboard (mine since '69 and my only guitar for 40+ years).

Plays and intonates fine. But if you can, I'd play the guitar you're looking at.

My old D-25M had pretty good divots under the strings in the cowboy chord positions. Never really bothered me when playing... I would say they are mostly a cosmetic issue. They can be filled with a paste of rosewood dust and glue and then sanded smooth next time a refret is needed, ala Frank Ford...

The divots are actually an upgrade for some players. It cost a lot of money to have someone scallop your fret board and just think, the first three frets on this one are already done! LOL.:single_eye:
