I saw a 1967 Guild F-61 on ebay, only problem is to my knowledge there were no F-60 anything built in the 60's. The F-46 NT ( I own one of these built in 1987) and the GF-60's were built in the late 80's and their serial numbers don't match the one on sale. The guitar looks authentic on the photos but I can't figure out the serial number...the inside label says it's an F-61 R NT but the serial number is a GF serial number with too many numbers. Does anyone know if Guild built an F-61???

Hmm. Couldn't find anything in Hans's book or in Beesley. But it sounds as if you've already checked those sources. I'm curious to see what others say.

By my read of the SN, looks like an '88 GF60R.

Thanks, I missed that thread...still no real answer or clue to authenticate. I own a Gruhn F-46 NT, built in 87, in 88 they changed from the f-46 to GF 60, same guitar (built and designed for Clapton) and those do have a GF serial number but not consistent with this one, but no F-61.

The authentication would be in post #24 of that thread where Hans confirms that the F61 model number on label correlated to GF60 s/n's even though he wasn't talking about the specific guitar that started the thread.
Any doubts just send Hans the s/n.

Have you checked out or looked for a GV70? I don't know that they're any easier to find, but I owned a GF60 and a GV70 at the same time. If you blindfolded me and put one or the other in my hands to play, I couldn't have told them apart. They were so similar that I eventually sold the GF60 to someone here on LTG, and kept the GV70. It was a coin-toss as to which one to keep and which to sell.
