I used to go see John in New York City Clubs in the '70s.

At the time, he was playing a lot with bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Sometimes, the name on the billing would be the The John Abercrombie Trio. Sometimes it was the Jack DeJohnette Trio and once, the Dave Holland Trio. I finally realized that whoever 'got the gig,' got the top billing.

ANOTHER man done gone!

I discovered Holland and DeJohnette through his ECM stuff back then.
Same label Ralph Towner was on.
