Glenn, you're welcome - feel lucky to even be seeing this, the coloration and
wood on this G37 is just beyond...!

Yeah, it's a beauty!

It's got two scrapes on the back, on the right side of the lower bout and that's about it. So far as I know, everything is original except the saddle (replaced with a compensated bone saddle), the bridge pins and case. (It was sold to me in a gig bag -- no case.)

The date stamp is so faint I can't read it, but the serial number is DF102134.

Enjoy, and thanks again Seth!

I know, via Hans' many reminders, that those online serial number lists are notoriously unreliable.

But, assuming this info is correct, this was the next-to-last G37 made?!

Does anyone know if Guild did amber-burst D30s?

G

Thanks, my curiosity was up!
Was pretty sure they didn't do Amber before the mid '80's and the last s/n shown for 'em in '86 is 135 (!!)
And the D30's start in '86.

Had a feeling you'd never noticed that
:friendly_wink:
In this case I'd believe it because they also show the D30's in that same year.
Implies to me the records were as good as they could be for that model(s), having captured the existence of both of 'em in that same year.

Wiley at this point I'd be willing to bet all they did was start writing different s/n's on the labels and start slapping 'em on while they still had the amber lacquer in the sprayer reservoirs.
:biggrin-new:
(I will say I definitely had the "Amber" associated with D30's not G37's in my memory banks, when I mentioned earlier I wasn't positive about "Amber" being one of the stock colors)

G37 with a 5-piece neck - can't recall if I'd seen
one of these before. This one's currently for sale on ebay, looks
to be in great condition in the photos, seller has identified
it as a '77.

Hans - very interesting! The G37 seems to have seen quite a bit of variation in
neck construction over the years. Do you know if any other acoustic Guilds had the 5 piece neck
during this time period? Is a G37 with the 5-piece a rarer instrument than the
3 piece and all-mahogany necks?

I've seen F-40s from the late '70s with the same 5-piece neck.
