I've seen these in both Mahagony and Maple ply, has anyone played both and have an opinion on the differences? Here's mine.

Mahogany is generally darker, "smokier" sounding, if you will, while maple is brighter and "crisper".

I like 'em both, but my Starfire with the maple body and mahogany neck is my favorite.

i had that same guitar, a 1997 SF-2 in maple sunburst, with those same SD-1 pickups. it was probably the best tone I have ever heard out of a guitar. I loved that it was fully hollow, like a violin. but, I couldn't get into the floating bridge or the arch top tail piece. It did have a great neck. I sold it to a member here.

I don't know the year, but the serial is AG300044. I put a set of SD Seth Lovers in it. The label says Westerly. It had SD-1s in it.

Every '90s SFII I've played has impressed me with its nice feel and resonant acoustic tone (for a relatively thin electric guitar). :)
