Looks like the label inside the guitar was replaced. When you look at it their is a "stain" showing an outline of a smaller origional label.

The Gibson logo looks to me to be too close to the top, the wear on the frets seems to have worn through to a different wood, all in all, makes me think it's a fake.

It's a fake. Gibson was started in 1902. And the label is otherwise bogus in multiple ways.

So someone puts a lot of work into fabricating a fake and does not research enough to allow it to pass even a cursory inspection. Then again, given the price noted perhaps the seller knows or at least suspects it is bogus. If those lower entries are the same place a J45 Vine in "Koa" for $861? I suspect that is another one in the questionable ranks. I guess that is a concern for the Gibson fans and not the Guild fans.......

Well, I for one do love my Guilds. But, I also love the martins and Gibsons I've picked up as well. I used to just be focused on just Guild but there are just too many other breat brands and models out there (IMHO) to limit yourself needlessly.

By the way, thanks all for your input. I was pretty sure it was questionable. But, it's always nice to hear input from others more knowledgeable than I.

So... they're hoping someone will mistake it for a Gibson J160E (bottom pic)...?

In 1902 it was the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Co. Mandolins were huge in the early 1900's and Gibson built a buttload of them.

Of course, no one in their right mind would expect to get a real vintage Gibson guitar for $399...
