So if Sgt. Peppers was released 50 years ago, and "it was 20 years ago today, that Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play", that means it all adds up to about 70 years ago that it all began then? (According to the allegory anyway)
And two days later the Jimi Hendrix Experiance opened their set at a special concert to kick off Sgt Pepper with the Beatles as honored guests with their version of Sgt Pepper. To the amazement of the Beatles and all of rock royalty, they pulled it off to a standing ovation by Paul McCartney and others!
According to the story if this event Hendrix got the idea of opening with Sgt Pepper at the last minute, came to the gig with the record and proceeded to work out the details with the band. Starting the show 45 minutes later than planned they proceeded to blow the crowd away...
If I remember right, from reading the notes accompanying the new Sgt. Pepper remix, A Day In The Life consists of 12 first-generation tracks spread across four different four-track tapes. And this was among the most complicated pieces The Beatles ever put together.
