awagner,

Love to hear your thoughts re: comparing it with your F-512 and even the F-612. Out of curiosity, are the braces on the JF-100-12 straight, shaved, or scalloped?

Don't know about the braces. I'll take a look at the next string change.

I haven't come up with a description of how the JF100-12 sounds compared to the other 12s in my stable yet. It sounds great to my ear, but it does not have a unique sound that I can easily describe (at least not yet). I personally think it is the most attractive guitar I own.

The F512 has a perfect warm, dark rosewood tone, and the F612 is like the F512 in an echo chamber. So much depth, sustain and presence, it really needs to be heard to be believed. A little more difficult to play due to its long scale length, but not too bad. I prefer not to capo it due to a loss of sustain when I do.

The F412 is completely different, however. Bright, very loud and clear. One of my favorites, actually. The only guitar I ever sold was my Corona F412, which was very well built but chimey and tinny to my ear. Completely different from its replacement, which is in a class by itself.

My overall favorite, however, is the D80-12. It plays like a 6 string, and its sound quality is only surpassed by the F612. Not too hard to look at, either.

I fell off of my treadmill once and landed on the wall behind it. If The treadmill was turned around I would have probably taken out a few of the guitars (insert bowling joke here).

Good morning, beautiful guitars!!
I had posted a thread a couple of weeks ago trying to find info on how many D100s, Jf100s, and JF100-12s were made in Westerly in the 90s.
I didn't get very much feedback though.
I currently have a JF100 CRV 12 string natural and the serial # is AJ200006 --date stamped Sept. 10th of 1993.
I had another one that I sold last year SN AJ200002.
I can't read the serial number on your's in the photo, would you be so kind as to relay it to me please? And what date is stamped on the neck butt in the sound hole?
Thanks much---bp

Thanks.

Mine is JF200012, and it is from 1996. I will have to get back to you on the neck block date.

Hey great idea, run your tail off and the sweat adds to the humidity in the room.

And I kick myself for thinking I have too many guitars?

What a great picture. Gotta show it to ARRRCEE

Thanks Awagner,
I've wondered many times if indeed they only made a dozen of the 12 stringers. If so,given your SN it wouldn't debunk that possibility and if so, yours would have been the last one made.
Just a theory; but if anyone "out there" in LTG land has a 12 string that has a JF100 12 string with a SN greater than AJ200012, please chime in!!!
THANKS--bp

Slight correction. The Serial # prefix is AJ (not JF) on my JF100-12. And the date stamped on the neck block is April 17,1996.

The prefix on my JF100, however, is JF.

Neither serial # appears on the chart, which we know contains many errors and omissions.

I have tried numerous times to email him and have never gotten a response. I know he has stated that he has problems receiving emails from certain addresses.
I'd love to know more about production numbers on D100s, JF100s, & JF100 12s out of Westerly in the 90s .

Right, I think he even states that on his site now. Normally he prefers to get messages there because his Private Mailbox here fills up so often, but for that question it's worth a try.
See the "Private Messages" button at the top right of the LTG home page (at least that's where it is on the browser I use, but I'm just making sure you're aware of the resource)

I'm thinking of the ergonomics of your room, and the performance you might get from just one humidifier on all those great guitars. I have much fewer guitars now, and playing a lot of electric or drums lately, so my humidifier seems like quite a cost to run for so few of my acoustic guitars. (I own a few other brands of acoustics, but do not list them.)

Albeit at one point in time I did get my monwy's worth out of the humidifier. Everyone would ask "how many guitars do you own now?". Back then it was 21 guitars when I experimented with basses and all manner of various Guild and Martin guitars. But in my area I had to BUY the particular model of Guild's that I was fond of in order to get them and try them out, and then proceed from there.

In my exuberance to become more "mellow" I began to thin the herd. There was at least a Corrunna- F50, F50r, F412, and finally a 2013 New Hartford F512 that I should have kept at least 3 out of 4 of them.

LESSONS LEARNED: When I am fond of a guitar and as a bonus it has that particular pleasing sound quality that is difficult to quantify find a way to keep it.

AND do not shoot me: "Guild, can be collected". (Drool rags available at Walmart and other fine establishments..)
