Interestingly, it was not John but his friend, Doug Dillard, that recorded the banjo on the recorded version. If you are not familiar with the song, it was written by John Hartford.

Can never have enough Glen Campbell! Those were the days, two singers, two instruments, a couple of microphones. No big "production" or computer-generated "music".
