Greetings all,

I'm brand-spanking new here (just found it).

I recently got back into playing after a 30-year hiatus (a long, sad story). Had a great collection that had to go but managed to hang onto my '65 Gibson B 45 12 string. Have since gotten a Martin SPD 16T, but really want to expand my 12-string stable.

I've got a bad itch for that D 12 and a Taylor 150ce (my finances aren't the greatest, I love me some dreads and the name "Guild" speaks for itself).

All that being said to ask this: anybody got/had one (the D12)? Any opinions?

I'm really looking forward to reading up in here and hope to contribute my weight also.

God bless and thanks in advance

Denver (aka Cabarone)

changed title to reflect guitar in question

Hi! Welcome to the forum!
There is no such beast as a D-12. For dreadnought guitars, the least expensive model is the D-4-12, which is a satin finished, less ornate version of the D-25-12 (or the D-212, same guitar).

I apologize for misspeaking. Taking a quick look at Guild's site I see what I meant was the 1212 (from the Westerly collection)...sorry about that...

Welcome aboard Denver!!

If you like to hunt for vintage and less common models, you also might want to consider G212 ( '79's era based on D40, flatback mahogany) or G312, based on D50 flatback rosewood.)
Here's a great place to read up:
http://westerlyguildguitars.com/guitars/g212.html
http://westerlyguildguitars.com/guitars/g312.html
http://westerlyguildguitars.com/guitars/d25-12.html
http://westerlyguildguitars.com/guitars/d412.html

Be aware that the D212 or 2512 and the D412 will all have arched mahogany backs.
All of 'em'll have spruce tops.

Tom Petty has 2 dreadnought 12's, if his tacit endorsement means anything.
Current thread with member-owner comment here:

Hang in there and more 12-er owners'll gate to chime in, so to speak.

Welcome to the boards! Yeah, Guild is the place to be for 12-strings. I'm sure dreads are fine, but you might also consider the jumbos....

I apologize for misspeaking. A quick look at the Guild site reminded me it's the D 1212 (from the Weatherly collection). Sorry about that.

Not a problem! I don't know anyone here who owns one yet. When you pull the trigger, I will be interested in your impressions.

Welcome to LTG! Those "Westerly Collection" numbers are always a bot confusing... There are a few good videos of the D-1212 up already like this one:
