    So many knobs!

Yes, today's score is a Guild G300 Tamarack.

I also got this, but I assume you're all more excited by the Tamarack.

What does the "Plectron" control do? Some sort of attack control or a compressor?

Axe is cool too. What a great tool. I am making do with my Mark 1.

Plectron is part of the tone stack: Bass, Middle, Treble, Plectron.

Basically a super-high frequency tone control used to accentuate of smooth over pick attack.

I could probably flip the knobs on eBay (rare! **WOW!**) and get back the money I spent on the amp but for this Guild dork it's worth it just to keep the amp on a shelf and look at them.

Am I correct in assuming that the case is made of tamarack?

Boy, I'd love to have that!

Aspen and Sequoia enclosures look pretty much the same and I don't think I've ever heard of anything being made out of Sequoia. Luckily for those big 'ol trees it's a softwood. Anyway, I suppose it's possible but the pics I see online make Tamarack look like Pine. I would think some sort of Oak would be more likely.

Back to Tamarack, did you know that Tamarack is a word from the native Abenaki language which simply means “wood used for snowshoes”?

I did not. Learned it all here: http://www.wood-database.com/tamarack/

It's also called the American Larch which will forever make me think of this:

The manual says the cabinet is oak.

I'm not familiar with these; I'm guessing it's an acoustic guitar amp? Very cool nonetheless.
