Here's my review of the 1986 Guild S-281 Flyer that I scored for a great price.

The difference between an S-280 and an S-281 is the headstock!

The S-280 has the "foot". The S-281 is the Offset.

I guess I failed to mention this in our communications prior to your review.

Just finished reading your review. So when are you coming down to borrow my X-100 Bladerunner?

The "Modern Aviation" catalog is just a Double sided sheet! (While you're here I'll let you go through my literature binder if you buy me lunch!)

I always thought to be a "Super Strat", a guitar had to have the Single Coil, Single Coil, Humbucker pick-up lay-out?

This didn't happen until the Detonator/Liberator series.

Ahh.

In the History of Cool Guitars v2 he calls them pointy droopy headstocks. That made me chuckle.

Re: Super Strat - I always just took the term to mean vaguely Strat-shaped with upgrades for shredding, probably with at least one humbucker. If there's an official definition I never bothered to look it up, pro journalist that I am.

Lunch for digging through archives sounds like a plan. Can I bring my scanner?

Man, those Blade Runners are so cool. Did you know they're still being made by the guy who owns the design?
