Question,

Does anyone know if waverly tuners will fit in a D55 without any modification? Will the screw hole from the original tuners line up? I know I will need to drill the top hole. There is nothing wrong with the original tuners I am simply wanting to do this because I like the look and quality of Waverly.

Thanks!

It always helps to have pics so somebody can see what kind of tuners you have on your D-55. Usually they are Grover Rotomatics, but those tuners may change dimensions slightly over the the different eras, so it is nice to know the year, too.

If your D-55 has the big Grovers on it, the tuner shafts will be larger on the Grovers than the Waverlys. You may have to dowel the holes. There are also tuner shaft ferrules that are made to retro-fit into the large headstock holes necessary for Schaller and Grover tuning posts. Read up on those while you are at Stew-Mac (see below).

stewmac.com owns Waverly, but also sells Grover Rotomatics. Here are the links to both of those tuners. Scroll down the pages, look at the spec. section and you can see the measured differences:

Good luck!
