Wow! I just did a Google search and prices are way up there for New copies of the paperback edition. Some over $100. Glad I go my copy a few years ago when I did.

TX,
Has Hans said when we can expect volume two?

As a writer who often gets asked the same question, my guess is that the answer is, "when it's done dammit!", though Hans is generally far too polite to say such a thing.

I haven't heard anything on when it might be finished Rich. Like GAD said, Probably when it is done. LOL! I imagine he is waiting for Cordoba to get into full swing of regular production across all models before he will publish part 2. Only seems right that he would want to include Guild's latest incarnation as I'm sure a lot of "new to Guild" players will be wanting info on the latest stuff as well. Only makes sense to hold off until Oxnard is included to broaden the reader base. Trust me, I imagine when he is ready to publish it we will be some of the first to know.

Does anybody want my Hardback Edition? I'll trade for the 'right' D-55 or a Mark VI! :)

Hm, I'd been thinking about getting a new copy, mine's a little worse for wear. Actually, worse for having wine spilled on it. I keep it on the floor between the computer and a bookshelf, and noticed a month or so back that somebody spilled red wine on it. I don't drink wine, so that means either my wife or one of the cats I'd go with my wife). It is usable, just a little stained and stuck together in places.

Does it come with a cover?

At this point, if it did have a cover, which I will neither confirm or deny..... we'd be talking X500 money, baby!

Did I mention the inscription by the Author?? Cha-ching!

I haven't heard anything on when it might be finished Rich.
Seems to me he actually mentioned a couple of years ago that Volume 2 was actually almost(?)(if not completely) finished and looking for a publishing deal.
I got a sneaking suspicion it won't cover more than Corona, partly because I can't recall him ever commenting on anything after that, and partly because it'd just turn into a never-ending task.
Then there's this quote from him over on the FDP:
"Hello Bob,

Yes, I might have asked for that information. I collect Guild info for my database, which I use for my ongoing research on Guild Guitars.
If you would like to know a bit more about the history of the model, you should try to get hold of a copy of 'The Guild Guitar Book - The Company and the Instruments, 1952-1977'. There should be enough info on the M-80 in there and if you still hace questions after reading, just get back here or contact me at my regular e-mail address.

Oh, and I'm located in the Netherlands and I don't have a connection with Guild other than that I wrote a book about them and I'm currently working on Part II, which will bring Guild history up to date.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust"

Note "up to date" at that time was December '04, Corona was down and Tacoma wasn't in production yet.
Also, doing a search for "Hans Moust" brings up all his posts over there and also some answers to questions we re-visit here periodically and some answers to questions that haven't been answered properly here, yet.
In fact, it oughta be a sticky over in the FAQ's.
As for the publishing deal I mentioned above it wouldn't surprise me if one question now might be one of whether or not to even publish a paper version of it.
That could mean there are an entirely new set of tasks involved in publishing an electronic version of it. I don't know how that works.
The shrinkage of book publishing has been one of the major factors in the decline in demand for paper over the last 5 years, as e-books become more and more popular.
Personally I think a paper printed image is preferable but I'm a dinosaur in the minority these days, apparently.

I bought my hardcover version form Hans at the Arlington show. I had him autograph it. What does that make it worth????

(I had purchased a softcover years before at the Philly Guitar show when it was still at the Adam's Mark! I took it out to the car and like a sex crazed kid with a porno mag and leafed through the whole book! The show was over and the parking lot was almost empty by the time I got to the last page!)

I'm thinking about parting my book out:
Hardback paper cover, $500, Hardback $500, $5.00 a page.

The inscription page goes to the highest bidder. Anybody else named Harry out there?

Your cats drink wine?
Nah, they're like me and prefer beer.
