Bill, I'm pretty sure we've called them "cloud" inlays in the D-100 fretboards in the past, but I too love GAD's "Little Alamos" suggestion! Maybe we should add that to the acronym FAQ, even if no one knows what we're talking about. :)

Over the years, I have heard the inlays on the Gibson J-200 referred to as "cloud" inlays as well (see paragraph #3 below). I think that we Guilders should have a proprietary name for the inlays on one of our most elegant guitars.

Hans... I enjoyed that story! It is interesting to read about the process involved in the writing of an authoritative volume. The concept of "tombstone" as a description certainly has a precedent:

Personally, I like the phrase "capital" inlays, as in the top of classical columns... Ionic, Doric and Corinthian. Remember those from lessons in Grade School?
