Wow, that sucks! I've had a mad crush on MTM since I was a kid...

Bummer. Likely to be a bad year for this sort of thing.

I thought it was Marlo Thomas who had the dual pickguard look? i.e. "That Girl"...

Right, although I still strenuously object to that characterization.
It's a "tuxedo vest".
It's the Gibson Everlys that inspired Marlo Thomas' 'do:

Guilds don't have the "flip"

Well, I think they both are/were hot. I loved that MTM series with Dick Van Dyke. Funny stuff and they didn't even need questionable language.

Me, too! Comedy without vulgarity - for The Dick Van Dyke show they even had separate twin beds!

Although I am saddened by her loss, I am somewhat relieved because now she has no more pain. A very private person and solid as a rock in the public eye however she never really got over her son's accidental death at age 24 in 1980, and she seemed to struggle emotionally ever since.

May she rest in peace.

Yeah, it's sad when anyone goes, especially cultural icons. This one carries a lot of associations for me, since I was, for a brief time, in a band with drummer Brian Englund, Cloris Leachman's son, who also sadly died some time ago. We used to practice at Cloris's house in Mandeville Canyon. The guitarist in that group was Brian Ray, who, among other things, has been playing with Paul McCartney for most of his gigs since he worked the Superbowl with him.
