No ideas but I'm not sure what instrument you are asking about. There was a Starfire bass reissue in the late '90's but I never heard "GSR" attached to them. There was a limited edition GRS Starfire bass circa 2013 but that is a few years off.

Just out of curiosity, what will you do if/when you get a factory spec diagram?

I'm speaking about a1998 Starfire bass. Very curios as to why with the p/u selector switch in the center position for both pickups to be on and you turn off the volume for either the neck or bridge p/u there's no sound ?

OK. GSR threw me off. maxuser is the resident expert on the reissues. Below is the diagram for a vintage Starfire. It is likely to be close, but that is just my opinion. The obvious thing to check is the switch but I have this nagging suspicion it might be "by design". Having proven my knowledge about analog circuits is inadequate, we'll see if someone else comes along.

from what i recall, many, most, or all 2-pickup Guild basses (at least Starifres, and JS/Jetstar/M-85, or most of them anyway) operate that way

i guess it could "only be as loud as its quietest volume pot" so to speak, with both pickups engaged. appears to be designed that way

I agree with mavuser......Just like to be able to adjust the volume of each p/u, { with the switch in the center position } independently of each other at all times.

I was thinking that was the case with my JS II but was too busy to check.

Working as designed.

Pilots don't have toggles and the volumes do adjust independently - which is how you get "balance" between the PUs.
