I'm surprised at how much I like this guitar, even if it does weigh in at 9 lbs 8 oz. It reminds me of a slightly more modern S300A-D.

OOOOOOH Pretty Burst! Congrats GAD! What is the top wood on that one? It almost looks like spruce from the angle in the first photo but I'm pretty sure they didn't use spruce on these. Maybe it is just the transparency of the burst, Whatever it is it is gorgeous!

I'm pretty sure it's granite. Maybe marble. Sure feels like it. :)

Based on the density of the wood I'd bet it's ash.

Here's another close-up pic or two.

That is a beauty! Congratulations! However, I would need help just to get that out of the case!

The early '80's M80's are cool guitars and have the two octave finger board.
I had owned a dark transparent red one like yours years ago and regretfully sold it. I presently have the burst model with the binding around the top of the body.
You're version, with the rounded top edge is solid smooth and comfortable to hold and play. Really nice. Much more comfortable when compared to the bound top version.
You may also find the S250 and S275 to be a lighter guitar and with similar vibe as these M80's.

According to this ad, the guitar has a maple top with a mahogany body. I find that hard to believe, but will endeavor to prove it one way or another.

I have to say that I really enjoy playing this guitar! Of all the guitars I have piled up around me (almost literally), this one gives me the closest vibe to my old S300A-D. I think it's because the neck is damn-near a perfect match to that guitar and the fretboard is the same as well.

I haven't decided what I think of the XR7s yet, but they don't suck. They're darker and fatter sounding than the HB1s. They're different. I don't think they're better, or even worse. Just... different.

Very cool guitar man
Top and neck are certainly maple. Any grain showing through the back or is it totally smooth?

These are very interesting guitars. They have kind of a semi-hollow vibe with the shape. What's the neck carve like?
