Wow! I think I like it better than Elton's (but don't tell him that). Thank you for posting. I would never have found this myself.

I don't think it strayed too far from the original, other than different instruments. Gee, that banjo player can pick. I wish I was that fast, but on guitar.

And they did it without big, goofy glasses and/or boas!
In the overall scheme of the cosmos, Bluegrass musicians are pretty talented. They simply understand their music and reach across the aisle now and then to surprise a lot of people. :rugby:

Love it. Great bass runs. A little less banjo and more flat pickin' would've been nice but it was enjoyable for sure. They certainly do some of that on other videos. Spot on vocals. Thanks for the post

Although not a huge banjo fan, I believe that sometimes that instrument can give certain songs a special drive. One that always comes to mind is Judy Collins' Bullgine Run:

This one works the same way.

Man they are good! I really enjoyed the lead singer's voice and phrasing too.

Speaking of bluegrass covers, my neighbor across the street plays mandolin in a band called Love Canon. Check them out on youtube.

Their formula is to take cheesy 80's and 90's pop tunes and inject bluegrass into the songs. Superb musicianship and a lot of fun!

Saw Love Canon just about a year ago at the Ram's Head in Annapolis.

LOVED THEM.

That was a great weekend: Tom Rush on Friday night and Love Canon on Saturday.
