I broke down and bought a Nylon string "Silent Guitar"

Looks a lot like the one on the right:

I've spent some time trying out the controls and plugging it into my various amps. It works well with just headphones, which was the selling point for my wife. It really is a fun guitar and weighs almost nothing. I find the one down side is that is takes up so little space on my lap, I find I hunch over it too much and get a stiff back.

Wicked cool. I think those are quite beautiful in their own right.

Does it generate MIDI? I.e., can you drive a synthesizer with it?

How are the sustain characteristics of the notes? Does it decay like a normal Classical or does it just keep on and on and on and...?

I ask because I used to have 2 of the earlier Gibson Chet Atkins CEC 'mostly-solid-body' classical guitars (like Chet and Willie Nelson played) and the bass strings would ring forever unless you muted them. Distracting.

It only outputs to a 1/8" headphone jack or a 1/4" jack for an amp. It does have it's own volume control to change the level. So...no midi.
