"GUILD GUITARS RELEASES USA-MADE M-20 & D-20

Guild Gets New California Factory Up and Running with Two Iconic Models

SANTA MONICA, CA – Heralded as one of America’s premium guitar brands since the 1950s, Guild is proud to announce the launch of the M-20 and D-20, the first models to come out of their new California factory.
These two guitars are authentic reproductions of the classic Guild M-20 and D-25, which were first introduced by Guild in the 1960s.
Ren Ferguson, Guild’s VP of Manufacturing and R&D, felt they were the best two guitars for his new team to start with.
The M-20 is a concert size acoustic guitar, informally nicknamed “the Nick Drake guitar” for its inclusion on the album art for Drake’s album, Bryter Layter.
The D-20 is a classic Guild dreadnought, based on the historic D-25.
Both models are constructed with solid mahogany tops, backs, and sides, rosewood bridges and fingerboards, and bone nuts and saddles.
Under Ferguson’s direction, some slight refinements have been made to the bracing and design of both models. The guitars are sprayed with an extremely light natural satin finish with sunburst option. Appointments are modest, including a vintage style rosette and inlaid Guild’s peak logo on the headstock.
Both models include a certificate of authenticity signed by Ferguson, and ship with a hardshell case. Guild is excited to ring in a new era of USA production, beginning with the reintroduction of two iconic acoustic models.
Street Price: $1299

Are you there?
No, unfortunatelly not. I just started a new job but have nothing to do in the US anymore for business as it looks. So no more NAMM for me at the moment...Also limited time for LTG in the upcoming month I am afraid. But nevertheless I bought a new guitar today in Denmark Street in London! (hint: the one I was looking for in WTB...)

It looks like they'll be offering a rosewood version of the Orpheum 12 Fret Slope Shoulder at some point too. Nice to see the Jumbo still present on the page, too.

Is that a Richie Havens photo on the last page of the catalog ?

Good question, extreme closeup shows a Havens signature model TRC but I just don't think it's actually him. Hand just don't quite look right somehow even though it's a typical method of his with the thumb.
He is in the middle of page 19, so one would think they have permissions for using his image, and would have for that shot if they could.

I noticed the 12 Fret OM Slot head models are not present in the catalog but there is an asterisk under the Orchestra model that says they will be available. I wouldn't mind trying out a 12 fret slope in Rosewood but the Hog version already sounds amazing.

Got a couple of shots of the booth, and had a brief chat with Ren Ferguson. Can't get the photos off the DSLR until I'm back home, but will post then.

Ralf, I don't know If I'm the only one here who "doesn't do Facebook" but I just want to thank you sincerely again, for taking time to post the pics and comments.

I don't Facespace or Mybook either so thanks from me as well Ralf! Looking Forward to your pics GVDub, Hope everything was good with Mr. Ferguson!
