Here is Paul Weller from a couple of weeks ago, playing an Guild Orpheum Jumbo whilst in concert for BBC-Radio 2.

The Guild is on one track, "The Attic" at 19.45.

One of his backing band plays a sunburst Orpheum jumbo a couple of times as well. Notably at 9.10 on "Come on / Let`s go"

Good catch, never heard of him before. Seems to be used on one song starting around 19:49, can't really hear it though.

Very Cool. The Jam (which he fronted & wrote most of the songs for) are one of my favourite bands. They had 3 or 4 albums out by the time Weller was 21! Rather amazing. Huge in the UK but probably ignored in the US as they were a very "English" band.

Agreed Zelko. The Jam and Paul Weller were not at all ignored here, at least by me. I love Paul Weller, and my Orpheum Jumbo! Here's a fave of mine, nothing like blue eyed Brit soul:

Hi Sandy. I guess I meant "ignored" by mainstream radio & media, and I'm guessing due to the very English themes they broached in their songs. There will also be be some souls like yourself who will find out about bands outside of mainstream media the gretaer population will be blissfully unaware of them. Hard to like a band if you've never heard them or don't have access to their music.

I have to admit I am much more of a Jam fan than the Style Council, although I loved certain things like Shout to the Top. Love the rawness of the earlier stuff and the Settings Sons album is a classic for mine (once again very British themes on there). Their last studio album "The Gift" was a bit of a departure from their usual sound on some tracks but is an album I also really like - some great songs on that - "Running on the Spot", "Town called Malice", "Carnation" etc but I have always loved this song:

Big Jam fan here too. Saw them more than once at CBGB! I also agree that while I love "Long Hot Summer", I didn't like a lot of the later Style Council stuff either. Paul's just an all-around amazing guy, really. I wish he would tour here more.

He has been playing a 64 Epiphone Casino (ser 71027) since about 82/3, as well as a 66 Gibson SG and a 66/67 Telecaster. On the acoustic front his main squeeze has usually been an early 70`s J-45, although he now seems to be going with these Orpheums.

Here`s a favourite of mine, typically British, and in a similar vein to Ray Davies (Kinks).

Note he is playing an Eccleshall LP Junior.
