I've been looking at something like the Yamaha Stagepas 400i, or the Fender Passport Event to use as a main amp with a Pod HD multi-effects running into it. Does anybody have any experience with doing something like this, and if so how did it work?

Playing an acoustic/electric guitar? I have a small powered PA speaker that works pretty well. They're pretty powerful, compared to an amp, so there's a lot of headroom.

Thanks, Dave.

For an acoustic guitar I can see how they would work well. My question pertains more to an electric guitar being run through a Pod HD then into a PA. My thought is that any given amp setting on the Pod (ie., Fender Twin) would sound more accurate through a PA than it will sound through an amp. Has anyone tried this, and if so what were your results? I play mostly jazz, so clean headroom is important. I do at times use some overdrive, and that is where I'm not sure about how a PA would work.
