Hi all (and a happy new year!),

I am new to this forum and sorry for my english. I am living in Germany and my English is not the best.

Found this forum by accident and I would like to introduce my Guild Solidbody Guitar to you.
It has been restored by the german luthier, Walter Kraushaar, and I got it back a few days ago! And I´m in Love (again) ...

Here you see the the old original:

I bought this guitar in the Mid '80ies. In the last 10 years I have neglected this guitar (different reasons).
Before that I played the guitar excessive and I produced a lot of damages, dings, dongs and bad scratches.
Parts of the neck binding were broken. No chance to play this guitar anymore.

And it took a long time for the decision to restore ist. Now the time had come.

First, Walter removed the paint. And he not only repaired the neck binding. My special wish was a binding on
the headstock:

Because of the great weight we decided to reduce it:

and renew the back with mahogany:

Now it got the new colour(s):

And finally it is at home (a simple iPhone photo - I will make better photos in the near future):

THIS GUITAR IS SO AWESOME! :tan:

We changed the original stop tailpiece with a Gibson one. And I bought classic Gibson Pickups (490R and 498T) for it.
Now it has locking tuners by Grover. Chrome Tulip Knobs for them are ordered.

The clean sound (with a fender amp) is absolutely great. It sounds very very warm and has
a little bit the sound of a semihollow. With my Marshall Combo this guitar sings like a charm and has an
incredible sustain.

Searching over month now I found a fitting case too. That was not easy! Guild don't answers to mails ...
and it took a long time to find a case for this dimensions. Les Paul Cases on every corner, but for this guitar? No.
It has a fatter *** ... :witless:

Hope you like my baby, too!

Pete

Thank you very much! Seems to be a very nice community here! Meanwhile I read a lot.

Super first post complete with pics.....very impressive. :triumphant:

I am member in another "vBulletin"-Forum with a different topic, so that I am rather familiar with it's technique ;-)

Normally, I hate to see a vintage guitars radically changed, but this one looks beautiful in that new red/black SB finish. And the headstock binding is very nice too.
