I recently contacted Guild to determine the year and birthplace of my guitar, which I've owned since the early 90s (from my Uncle, who owned it through the 80s and potentially the 70s, although he passed away and I cannot be sure). The "History of your Guild" PDF they offer on their site, turned up no leads and the representative at Guild wasn't able to find out any more information based on the model and serial number (I even photographed the sticker through the soundhole to be certain I was reading the letters and numbers correctly) and she suggested I try the forum to see if anyone had any idea as to where or when my Guild acoustic might be from! Any leads are greatly appreciated. Below is the model and serial number as well as a link to the PDF we consulted to attempt to solve the mystery:
Model: D50
Serial Number: M1196

Many thanks to anyone who might know anything in advance!
