Here's one of many shots that I took last night of the big show.
I was just south of the Canadian border hoping to change my angle of view and get the moon closer to Mt. Baker, our local 10,782' volcano. I was slightly ecstatic and actually howled when it popped up from behind the mountain!!

I didn't hear anyone/anything else howl. :beguiled:

Beautiful photo, Joe.

Any chance you would be willing to share a higher-res version, either on LTG or via email?

Tremendously beautiful, Joe: overwhelming...

Thanks for posting!

All the best,
B.

P.S. By any chance, would you like to adopt me? You have more fun than a big bunch of folks over here. Just saying...

What focal length lens did you use ? Looks longer than my 300mm.
I took the first shot using a technique called digiscoping, where I combine a spotting scope with a good point and shoot digital camera. The spotting scope is set and focused at 20X; I handhold the camera to the scope's eyepiece and zoom in until I find the right image. The end result is usually between 60-80X (roughly equivalent to 3000-4000 mm) with good detail, depending mainly on the light. It can be tricky and I enjoy the flexibility it gives me in the field. A tripod is mandatory!

I teach digiscoping classes, so there's some interest. :rugby:
