Bought an old Hofner President a month or so ago. Had a real badly mended neck heel break which needed rebreaking, and then I removed 3 frets worth of fretboard and laid in a new piece of rosewood. Needed the neck angle adjusting as I took some height out of the heel with the neck joint repair. Complete refret and new neck binding. The body had 2 holes one in the top where a pickup wire was and a hole in the side. You can still see where the holes were but at least its wood now. The body had lots of dents, scratches and gouges, all of which have come out of the top. Its solid spruce so may even sound better a little thinner. Left the dings in the side and back as I know the veneer is very thin. Many thanks to all you guys for previous help re the colour of the top.
Put some strings on before final refin just to see what its like.
My first attempt at anything like this.
