Isn't this a bit strange? The Artist Award and X-700 are two different guitars.

Artist Award = carved top, 1 floating pickup
X-700 = carved top, 2 set-in pickups (otherwise similar to X-500)

What does it mean that this has the AA "trophy" label and the X-700 truss rod cover?

Does it have the laminated back and sides of the X-700 and not the solid back and sides as advertised?
Thanks John

Hans,

Why would Guild have made such a guitar as I'm confused! Combining the features of a laminated with a carved top instrument just doesn't make much sense to me especially for a $6000 pricepoint............jim in Maine (currently working in Denver)

Jim,

The $ 6000.00 price tag may come from the assumption that there is a Benedetto-connection, which I don't think there is.

Sincerely,

Mind it was a Nashville custom shop made guitar, so somebody asked for those features!

It is not too dissimilar from the original Gibson L-4CES or the 1960's L-5CES, Byrdland or Super 400 CES. A lot of other makers build laminated back and sides archtops with carved tops and set in pickups. I don't think laminated back and sides are a bad thing and not uncommon for Guild considering all the arched back acoustics they have made over the years. My 1952 Gibson L-4 had laminated back and sides as did the Guild CA100 models I think.
Thanks John
