Ahh wow she sounds really sweet! Nice dynamics. What great tone, sounds as good as she looks.

Screw the cleans - I want to hear some raunch! :)

OK, so it sounds awesome clean. P90s though a cranked tube amp are my favorite guitar tones ever, though.

Oh, Proto can bring it! Just can't crank it in a house with sleeping kiddies, maybe this weekend if I'm lucky tho!

The kiddies do tend to get cranky when they're bounced of out bed by some thundering riffs, don't they? Sorry, kids, but sometimes Daddy has to let loose.

I didn't think it was possible, but Proto sounds better than she looks. Awesome, I say again, awesome! And nice Blue Rocks hat, by the way! :D

Hello Jahn,

Probably later than 2000; 2001 at the earliest and maybe even later!

I know I said 2001 at the earliest, but at this point I'm thinking more like 2002!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Hans, what changed your mind, or, ah..., 'refined' your opinion?

Thanks all! Ayep I'm just going to go with Hans on this one, his instinct is usually spot on so 2002 it is! *Altering dates as we speak* i wonder why the date shift too tho, is it because of the inside shots, maybe those pots weren't used before 2002 or something?

Hi Jahn,
you remember that Chris Fleming had mentioned to me, that he remembers making two of those special Blues 90 prototypes, and that the second one would still hang in the factory in Corona.
Well, I found her! Here's a picture from April 16th, 2003 that shows her on the wall in Corona!

FENDER CORONA Chris Fleming Blues 90 prototype.jpg

(Note the special Tremolo equipped bass in the hands of Ernie Slade from Fender Europe; the guy to the right is Steve Grom, at that time Fender VP Quality Assurance back in 2003).

And here is a close up picture of that second one vs. your one (Yours has the nicer maple flames!):

oh my that is AWESOME! nice photograb! wow, lookit that, my guitar's twin hanging amongst the hoi polloi!

Oh, and this helps narrow down the year of manufacture as well, since that pic was taken in 2003, and Hans' best guess was 2002 - which means it's definitely not post-2003. I'll stick with 2002 for now! Crazy that it's a decade old already, I swear I still smell the fresh nitro coming offa this thing!

Yes, Chris Fleming was very well known and famous as Master Builder at Fender. There are plenty of examples of his work, just do a search on Google or Youtube.
Today he is not longer working as Master Builder for Fender, that's the current Fender Corona team if you are curious: http://www.fendercustomshop.com/custom-life/meet-the-builders/
Chris Fleming is now "Director Guitar Research and Development at Fender Musical Instrument Corporation".
