My first guitar was a hand me down from my brother. It was a circa middle '60s Harmony classical. He bought a Gibson B25-12 about 1968 or so while at college. My mom gave him 20 or 30 dollars to help him buy the 12 string, then gave me the Harmony. I played it for a long time. I also bought a no name 12 string from a HS classmate for $50 and played them both until about 1977 when I bought my first "good" guitar. An Alvarez, I don't remember the model number. I sold the 12 string and the bridge on the Harmony flew off one day. So both of those guitars are gone. I was happy with the Alvarez until I met some co-workers who played Guilds. By 1980 I had a Guild D-40. Many guitars have come and gone through the years, including the D-40. But it is owned by a friend of mine so I see it occasionally.
