That's some seriously beautiful wood, Steel! When's the completion date? We could compare notes. 8)

:) no real date set on anything here! Mike has several other builds going on at the same time and for the deal I am getting as a life-long friend / bandmate, drinkin', huntin' and fishin' buddy and sometimes empeloyee ...I aint in no hurry ;) ....but probably...around March / April would be my best guess :)

Thanks,Grid..other builds have been for function or purpose..this one is for me!! Wanting it to have a lot of volume, and to tick off some of the Bluegrass folks that I play with who used to make fun of my DV-52!...a great Bluegrass guitar and always held its own on stage!

rosette cut out and top laid over the back to get an idea of what I'll see looking inside when its all together.

IMG_3388.jpg

top cut out and I am sanding it down to final size

IMG_3393.jpg

almost done sanding. the dark line in the center is a pencil line which will be removed of course :)
I'll start the bracing and bend the sides soon...

carving the braces

IMG_3408.jpg

the yellow "thingy" is a piece of plastic I use to protect the inside of the top...even though you cant see it when its put together, I would know its there and it would bother me forever if there were a scratch inside :)

IMG_3415.jpg

here is what I have done so far...hope to finish the braces this weekend.
