Current hero is Rich Robinson since I play alot in open G. Here he is working a Guild 12 solo with brother Chris on some killer vocals. This song, Wiser Time, fingerpicks great.

That Guild 12er is really sweet sounding. 8) Excuse my ignorance but can someone identify the model?

That's an F-512; appears to be a Tacoma crafted model. Darn nice post retropicker. Welcome aboard...

Thanks, I'm glad you appreciate it.

Takoma Park MD's own John Fahey: ... read about him here.

The guy who isn't Coastie is John Fahey:

Said to have broken his pre-war Gibson-built, Montgomery Wards-badged Recording King over a lover's head in a bout of ... uh ... exuberance. Before repairs:

... and after:

Early work: "Dream Of The Origin Of The French Broad River"
Later work: "Poor Boy"

Thanks for this post. I've been a banjo picker and am now moving into guitar finger picking on this fine Guild I've inherited. I'm purchasing some Sr. Fahey's music as I type and uploading to the Amazon "cloud" for kicks.

Thanks Scratch. If I were considering an acoustic purchase, the F-512 one would be #1 on my list!

You're welcome RP. Fahey had his demons but in a twist, some of his finest work is on his two Christmas albums; straightforward ... like him ... and reverential ... maybe not so much.

If I'd been one of the opening acts for Coastie years ago, maybe things would have turned out differently...

I do know for certain that Gary is a much nicer guy to the folks around him. :D

"How Bluegrass Music Destroyed My Life" is a great read by the way.

My guitar hero list?

Gabby Pahinui
Woody Guthrie
Victor Jara

They were all blessed with genius, but sang songs for everyday folks.
