I often ponder my tastes in music and try to figure out why I like the kinds of music that I do. The answer to that question will probably elude me for the rest of my life, but these thoughts often lead to other areas of music and by proxy, my relatively new guitar hobby.

So I pose a question to uncover some personal details of our Guild family; who is/are your guitar heros? To help you out, let's put a max of 3. Maybe we'll discover some artists that we've never thought to look into! Sharing is fun :p

Give us some links to audio/video if you can.

I was born in '82, and as weird as it may seem, I was a music nut VERY early and thus, watching MTV through the mid 80's I saw PLENTY of my #1 guitar hero Mark Knopfler. His unique style really sets him apart and he inspires me not only in his playing but he is left handed like me. I knew I would get GAS, so I decided, if he can play right handed....I can too!

My second guitar muse would have to be Elliot Easton of The Cars. The Cars were my first musical love (had all of their cassettes hah!) and guess what? He's left handed!!! Solo is 2:10 in.

My third giutar hero is Travis Meeks from the band Days of the New (You thought I'd say the lefty Hendrix didn't you  ). From what I read he is some kind of musical prodigy but he got addicted to meth and was subsequently on the A&E show "Intervention". One of those sad stories but I have listened to his 3 albums a billion times.

I want to give a shout out to both my parents for putting up with a First grader that wanted $25+ CD's in 1988, and my Dad again for having a '58 es355 that I not only plan to inherit but I decided I should know how to play, so that's one big reason I took on Guitar at my late stage (though not as late as everyone).

Now Spill the beans everyone! Let's hear about Atkins, Les, Muddy, Merle, SRV, etc!!!

2. Daniel Lanois
3. Mark Knopfler

I love this song by Daniel, they dont start jammin until the drummer takes his hat off.
