I've seen this before. While he states that lacquer provides a more preferable tone than poly, he fails to state why and how, which is something that we would all like to know. The only thing he eludes to is the thickness of poly versus the thinness of nitro. But even with that, he claims that really thin poly will still sound different. Nitro's ability to be repaired is the only other benefit he provides. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall with those discussions on nitro versus varnish.
