How long have you owned the M-20: About six months
Year & specific model: 1999 M-20
Purchased new or used: Used
Price paid: About $500 including shipping

Owners rate 1 (least appreciated) to 10 (most appreciated) in following categories with comments as desired:

Build quality: 8 Hey; it's a Guild
Looks: 7.5 No bling, but a unique woody, all mahogany look of it's own. I like it...
Projection: 6 It is a small body guitar
Bass: 5
Mids: 6
Highs: 7
Sustain: 6.5
Playability/comfort: 10 The perfect travel and songwriting guitar
Dependability: 8
Fingerstyle: 9.5
Flatpick: 6.5
Strum: 7.5

Condition (Mint/Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor): 'Good' following expert luthier repair of a small bout crack. Best mojo guitar I own.

Favorite Strings (one selection only): JP PB Lights

Would you buy another if lost/sold: Yes; if I could find one.

Overall Assessment: 9.0

Most Appreciated Characteristic: Size/comfort and the all mahogany construction

Least Appreciated: Nothing comes to mind

Favorite M-20 Story/Moment: I had been looking for a travel/songwriting guitar for many months and finally bought a GAD F-20. Couldn't coax any soul out of it and sold it within two months of purchase. Continued looking for a Westerly F20 but couldn't find one within the prescribed budget and had nearly given up hope. Sandy (twocorgis) surprised me with a call last February stating he had found an early M20 with mojo. It needs some minor repair, he said, but it is otherwise a nice guitar and priced under $500. I never dreamed I would come upon an M20; a Guild model I had long lusted for. We traced the unlisted serial number through Hans and found out it was a 1999 repro which was initially disappointing, but I got over it quickly. The M20 was the perfect fit for my needs. Sandy's luthier was awesome and made the repairs and setup that gave 'Mojo' the sound I was looking for. I love this thing. It has already traveled thousands of miles and been played around many campfires. At home, 'Mojo' hangs on the wall in the study, immediately available as the go-to guitar when songwriting inspirations strike.

Other observations/comments: I'm a happy camper....

Glad to hear that you're still happy with "Mojo", Ken. It was my pleasure uniting the two of you!

Overall Assessment: Easily the most disappointing guitar I ever purchased. The poor little thing was braced as heavily as a dreadnought. It was a toneless disaster.
