How long have you owned the F-212: 2 1/2 years

Mids
Highs
Sustain:9.5
Playability/comfort:10
Dependability:9.5
Fingerstyle:9.5
Flatpick:10

Condition (Mint/Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor): Excellent

Favorite Strings (one selection only): DR Rare 80/20 lights

Would you buy another if lost/sold: If I could find another, yes

Overall Assessment: Cutaway design gives acess to high frets

Most Appreciated Characteristic: Cutaway

Least Appreciated: NA

Favorite F-212 Story/Moment: The day I opened the box. The guitar is in better condition than I expected.

Other observations/comments: I love the mahogany sound and this 12er delivers a wonderful warm tone balance. I had been looking for a Guild cutaway 12-string for quite some time and was fortunate that another LTGer knew what I was seeking. He used it for recording, but due to arthritis, was unable to continue playing a standard scale guitar. I've gigged out with it, but I mostly play it at home. When I'm not playing it, 'Bronson' stays well humidified and secure in the Guild Corral...

Coastie helped me name this one 'Bronson'. Pictured below between D40 'Woodstock' and GF-25 (The Fonz)

How long have you owned the F-212: Less than a year
Year & specific model:1975 F-212
Purchased new or used: Used
Price paid: $300 (In need of repairs)

Owners rate 1 (least appreciated) to 10 (most appreciated) in following categories with comments as desired:

Build quality 10
Looks 10
Projection 10
Bass 8
Mids 10
Highs 10
Sustain 10
Playability/comfort 8
Dependability 10
Fingerstyle 8
Flatpick 10
Strum 10

Condition (Mint/Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor): Good to Fair (Repaired crack, fading of finish on top)

Favorite Strings (one selection only): Martins

Would you buy another if lost/sold: Hell yeah

Overall Assessment: Granted the fact that I am not a 12 string player "specialist", it is the best sounding 12 strings I was ever given to play so far. The neck is a handful for an ex-electric player such as myself, but nothing shy of the best in the 12 strings domain.

Most Appreciated Characteristic: Brightness and fullness of sound
Least Appreciated: Nothing comes to mind
Favorite F-212 Story/Moment: The purchase! Very motivated seller, refused my offer at first and called me back 5 minutes after I left to tell me to come back and take the guitar because he felt I would give it a good home. And I did.
He had owned it since he purchased it new in 1975.....

Other observations/comments: Guilds rule

How long have you owned the F-212:45 years
Year & specific model:1964, plain old F212
Purchased new or used:New
Price paid: $200

Owners rate 1 (least appreciated) to 10 (most appreciated) in following categories with comments as desired:

Build quality-10
Looks-8 (lots of wear and tear)
Projection-9
Bass-8
Mids-8
Highs-8
Sustain-8
Playability/comfort-8
Dependability-10
Fingerstyle-6
Flatpick-8
Strum-8

Condition (Mint/Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor):good

Favorite Strings (one selection only):D'Addario PB

Would you buy another if lost/sold: Maybe

Overall Assessment:probably the best 12 string I've ever played, and that's quite a few over the last 45 years. I'll have to see what my 512 is like in 45 years to properly compare it. Of course, by then I'll be 107 and probably too senile and feeble to play.

Most Appreciated Characteristic:sound
Least Appreciated:the original tuning gears
Favorite F-212 Story/Moment:bringing it home in '65

Other observations/comments:A lot of eights instead of tens because I used to be an eastern European figure skating judge

Since I had my F-212's neck reset by Guild last fall, I'll have to reassess some of my earlier review:
Build quality-10
Looks-8 (lots of wear and tear)
Projection-9
Bass-8
Mids-8
Highs-8
Sustain-8
Playability/comfort-8 Now a 10
Dependability-10
Fingerstyle-6 Probably improved, but I only flatpick on 12 these days
Flatpick-8 Also now a 10
Strum-8 Likewise, up to 10

Kim and his krew in New Hartford did a great job on the neck reset. I much prefer playing it over my F-512 now, partly because it has so much sound from its 50 years of living, but probably mostly because it's an old friend and my hand knows its neck without looking or thinking where I have to go. I didn't change the Bass-Mid-Highs etc., although after playing it regularly for the first time in years, I'd say 8s are a bit low. I also think there's an almost mystical connection between a man and a guitar he's played for almost 50 years.
