Here are some pics of my new Guild M-65 3/4. I just got her in today and she's a little beauty. I gave her a quick checkout and everything is good to go. The frets have literally zero wear, the neck is dead straight and the electronics only a tiny bit of scratchiness. I figure with a little bit of oil to polish her up she should be looking rather pretty.

My serial number is 94752, does that make this a 1973 or 74? Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance. This is my first Guild electric so I am super stoked and feel like I scored big time! I would have rather had a Starfire or a Bluesbird but I couldn't resist this one.

UPDATE: Just got her back from setup and man what a beauty! The pickup is super super clean and loud even when at volume 5. The Cherry really came out after a cleaning and polish. The frets look brand new. I had it set up with D'Adarrio 11's with a wound G. Looks like it is going to be a long night of playing tonight!

Hello MojoTooth,

That would make it an M-65-3/4 from 1973, but there's always the possibility that it was finished at a later date.
The type of label is usually a good indication when that was. Can you show us the label?

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I will post a picture of the label tomorrow for sure, the guitar is with my luthier friend now he is going to get her set up and a little polishing. I watched this guitar and a few others on ebay and the prices seemed to range from $800-999...$800 being for a 1973 and $999 being for a 1965

Here is the 1964

i paid considerably less so I felt I grabbed up a nice deal.

Hello MojoTooth,

Note that the guitar did not sell for that price! Furthermore, the guitar in that eBay auction is an M-65, which is the full scale version that usually sells for a little more than the three-quarter size one. The auction was a little confusing because the biggest part of the description was for a M-65-3/4 in sunburst, which was not the guitar in the photos. Looks like the seller copied-and-pasted the text from another auction for a different guitar.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the info, I read his listing and didn't notice the pic was of a full scale neck. That same guitar he is selling was first listed for $1400 and then $1200 then $1100 and finally $999, so my guess is someone will be able to talk him into a deal.

Either way I can't wait to get my 3/4 back from the setup and give it a play!

Does anyone who owns an m65 3/4 have a suggestion on a case to get for it? The case it was shipped in is pretty much unuseable.

Also is there any way to clean the tailpiece or is this something I would not want to do?
