my 1967 Starfire V finally arrived yesterday.

the first thing i did, right out of the case, was remove that nasty cracked pick guard.
then i propped her up on my favorite photography chair to get some shots.

she looks and sounds amazing. here she is! :D

Very nice looking Starfire! I am sure you'll enjoy owning it.

I lost my pickguard years ago and couldn't find a reasonably priced replacement. I ended up having Paul Setszer make one for me. It was about $60. His e-mail is Setzer's Signs <setzersigns@yahoo.com>
you can see his work at http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l303/setzersigns/

Here's a pic of the one he did for me. Note, I asked for a non correct logo but he can do the current one if you have artwork or send him your to copy. Setzer is a genius!

Wow, what great condition! A beauty! I may be in the minority, but I like how it looks without the pickguard better...I'd rather see the wood...

Me too although I'd still want to have it just 'cause I'm a "completist".

Looks familiar, like I've seen it before, oh, wait, I have :D
Hard to believe a 43 year old guitar could look that good, also hard to figure out how the pickguard cracked, considering its condition. I agree that it looks real pretty with all the wood showing. You're lucky I didn't have an extra two grand or you might never have gotten it

Congrats on your new guitar. She is indeed a looker and no doubt a player too!

"Favorite photography chair." Now there's a new thread threat if ever I read one.

Great looking guitar and, were it mine, I might enjoy it without the pickguard, for a while anyway.

Enjoy,
Joe

I went sans pickguard for 20 years. I do think the Starfires look just fine without but I wanted to stem the tide of wear :)
