Hi everyone,

Back after a long hiatus. I'm still searching for an X-500T. Would also be interested in other x-500s and x-700s.
Thanks! Danny

Welcom back Danny,

There have been some X-500s' in private E-Bay sales/auctions, but I haven't seen them move - maybe the prices weren't right for this economy. I would imagine you may have searched the following already and please disregard if you have already. However, I have seen this one in one of E-Bay Store's :

Corona X-500, Michael's Music

Here's a 64 X-500 in Boston:

64 X-500 Boston, Craigslist

Seems like a reasonable price at $1750

I haven't seen many X-700s' or X-500Ts'. Here's an X-700 that recently resurfaced from NYC area:
X-700, Craigslist NYC

The claim that X-700's go for 4-6K in E-bay is quite a fantasy. The price is super, $1700 - I wonder how many dings there are though for that price.

Another X-700 in Lexington KY for the typical price that I've seen - $2600 (including mine that I payed for 2.5K):
X-700, Lexington Craigslist

Glad to see there's interests in the X series ...

Happy Hunting!

As far as the number of X700s, I'm guessing it was about 350. Mine is number 338, and was produced in the last year of production, 1999.

Another question- anyone know how much the Westerly X500 and X700 sold for new back in the mid to late 1990s? (List price and street price?)

Hello bvuille,

If your X-700 is number 338, it is actually a guitar from the year 2000. Now I know that the regular X-700 was no longer listed in 2000, but a few were still under construction and your guitar was one of them.

anyone know how much the Westerly X500 and X700 sold for new back in the mid to late 1990s? (List price and street price?)

During 1996 the official list price of the X-700 was $ 3499.00 which included the hardshell deluxe case. At that time the X-700 had replaced the X-500, so it was not available.
At the end of the '90s the official list price for the X-700 was $ 3856.99 which also included the Deluxe case. By the time the X-700 was replaced by the Benedetto X-700, the X-500 became available again and it listed for $ 3199.99 ( deluxe case included). For the X-500T it was $ 3299.99.

As far as the street price is concerned, that would depend on where you lived in the U.S. and how badly the shop owner wanted to make a sale.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Wow, thanks Hans for the information! The seller told me that my X700 was from 1999, which I believed since I thought that the last year of production was 1999. I guess I have one of the final X700s!

Thanks everyone for the replies and contributions - so many beautiful guitars to follow up and what a pretty X-700!

There is a very pretty X-700 Benedetto on TGP at the moment too, but the asking price is too high for me (though I do keep going back and looking:)

So the search continues...

Danny - I looked for quite awhile before I found my X500T.

They're out there, problem is those that have 'em, keep 'em.

Beautiful guitars. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I've got a question. What is the function of extra knob below the pic guard?

Two volume, two tone and a master volume near the pickup selector.

So are the S/Ns sequential, then? If so, I think mine's #16. I'll have to re-check the S/N, but I think I remember it being like AK00....016. Sounds like ol' Hans knows the production totals year-by-year, too.

Hans would know for sure, but I "believe" that your serial number places it in the first year of production in 1994.

I'm pretty sure that's right, but I never saw any discussion of total production. I didn't realize it only amounted to a few hundred.

I might be mistaken, but it seems like most of those I've seen have had the standard Guild pickguard on them, whereas mine has a logoless multiply stairstep pickguard. I think they might have been trying to make it more deluxe than the standard guards, or maybe that's what was on everything around '94, but it's kind of generic-looking w/ no logo.

If you check out the pic of mine, it is also sans logo. I haven't seen any with the logo on the pickguard........yet.
