The story that I have seen is that they used Pyramids on their Alembicized Guilds, but that Pyramid strings have since changed, so that now they are much higher tension. Apparently TI Jazz Flats are supposed to be close to the original Pyramids. I find TIs to be too floppy for my taste, so I have LaBella flats on my Starfire, and they work great.

Oh, and to the original poster, amazing story! Congrats!

Thanks for the congrats.
Interestng note about the change in the Pyramids. It also holds true for the Pyramid 12 string sets that have been purported to be the exact
string that Rickenbacker used on their 12s in the 60s and 70s.
Well, Maxima used to make Rickenbacker's strings and they were a much softer alloy. The modern Pyramid set has been known to shatter many a Rick's tailpiece!

As for the TI's, it's not the tension, but the tone is too dark for me.
I may just stick with the Chromes.....

I had to "retire" from chefing....LOL!
Got tired of throwing saute pans at wait staff ;)
Just kiddin'. Too much tension and drama for me.
I'd rather eat the food any way.

I never had any idea of what it was to be a chef until I was on a steamboat cruise and they made the Executive Chef entertain the passengers for an hour. Tough job and not one I'd have the patience for.
