Howdy,

Say, a friend of mine down here in Great State of Texas, is looking for a Starfire Bass.
He likes my '66 SF I bass a lot; the sound, the feel of the neck, the weight, all of it.

He also likes to buy really clean stuff, and thinks he can find a cleaner reissue SF bass than an original, which makes sense.

Problem is, I wonder if the new '98-'01 reissues 'feel the same' as the old ones? I've never played one, so I don't know what to tell him.
Can anybody compare 'old vs. new' for me?

Thanks, Harry

I've never played anything but a vintage SF. The question came up in the past and I think if you're a player the De'Armond, reissue and vintage are close enough in feel that you make your choice using some other factor. But I'm just quoting what I've heard.

Maybe Jahn and Grot should meet in NJ with their basses and do the comparison and report back.
