Musta been a .22 short - or insufficient nitro in the case. .22 'long rifle' cartridge is quite efficient as it has a muzzle velocity of about 1,200 ft/sec and is a soft lead bullet, which mushrooms nicely as it is travelling through. The momentum of the bullet is better than a .32 though maybe not as good as a .38. A .22 long rifle charge would have scrambled the brains nicely if hit 'right between the eyes' :)

Another advantage of the .22 handgun - your'e more likely to hit the target at 30 ft plus than with, say. a .45
